    3. Thanks Art I had tried both suggestions before I posted. The taskbar icons say they are enabled but when I want to go into the in-depth menus nothing happens. When I try to open through programs the screen goes blank and when the desktop returns after a few seconds the colour has gone from blue to black Last week I had a W32.Spybot.worm ----- Original Message ----- From: "dolphin213" <dolphin213@cox.net> To: <GEN-COMP-TIPS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 19, 2004 10:50 PM Subject: Re: [Gen-Comp-Tips] Norton Anti Virus and Personal Firewall 2004 > Try right clicking on the icons. 3. Nora, >I had tried both suggestions before I posted. >The taskbar icons say they are enabled but when I want to go into the >in-depth menus nothing happens. >When I try to open through programs the screen goes blank and when the >desktop returns after a few seconds the colour has gone from blue to black >Last week I had a W32.Spybot.worm Sounds like the worm wasn't removed completely. I went to the Norton web site and this is what they recommend. * Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP). * Update the virus definitions. * Restart the computer in Safe mode or VGA mode. * Run a full system scan, and delete all files that are detected as W32.Spybot.Worm. * Delete the value that was added to the registry. * Delete any zero-byte files in the Startup folder. If you need help with any of these steps, it is described in detail at the following link: http://tinyurl.com/fcvw You might have problems updating the virus definitions. However this is an older type of worm and should be in the definitions for the 2004 version. Skip that step or try to update in Safe Mode, if it lets you. This worm is in circulation thru KaZaA and mIRC. If you use one or both of those, that is most likely how you got infected. Be careful in the future! Let us know of you results. Good luck! Art
