I do that same as > I turn on my computer in the early AM, before, do my e-mail etc and then shut off the computer until I turn it on again from 4 PM to 6 PM. I have my monitor set to turn off after 10 minutes and my HD after 20 minutes. Fred, if you are have your computer on all day and are not using it , your HD would run all day. bob gillis
