I'm not an expert but a heavy user. I have never heard of your message, but a search of mozilla.org gave me this link which helps with 'cannot send email' problems. Maybe there's something here to help you. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cannot_send_mail Please let us know what happens. -- Enjoy the Search! Thayne
Thank you so much for your helpful reply and the link to the website. On reading it I suspect that I have not configured Thunderbird correctly in the first place and that I also need to follow the instructions for "Outgoing mail settings". Unfortunately I am not going to be able to do this for a bit as life is very hectic and I am also struggling with another problem - my server will not accept attachments, although it has done so without any problems up to now! Life is never simple is it! I just wanted you to know how grateful I am for your reply and to tell you that I will be following it up as soon as time permits. Best wishes, Joan. ----- Original Message ----- From: "tcurtisGen" <tcurtisgen@gmail.com> To: <gen-comp-tips@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2008 11:14 PM Subject: Re: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] Thunderbird > Joan Smith wrote: >> Have just installed Thunderbird but when I wanted to contact them, >> because >> of a problem in installing a dictionary, I received the following >> >> "The message could not be sent as no sender was specified.
