Hey everyone, Please keep this topic on this list--not private!!!! I think that there are a LOT of us out here interested in this subject! I want to know about software used, provider selected.....how to get started.....etc. I don't want to start with a little site and then several years later have to redo because what I have will not grow. I want to make good decisions from the start. You can get free web space from rootsweb. http://accounts.rootsweb.com/ With a rootsweb account you do all the work! You can either design a page yourself using html coding, or you can use a editor to design a page which will do the html for you. There are many, many editors available in all price ranges. MS WORD is also an editor if you have that. After you are given your freepage accounts you will automatically be on the freepages help mailing list where there a lots of nice folks to guide you along. Another free web site host is yahoo's geocities. http://geocities.yahoo.com/home/ Geocities has an online editor called Pagebuilder that once you get the hang of it is easy to use. Geocities is very limited in how much space (bandwidth) you are allowed. If you need more space -- yahoo will offer more but you will need to pay for it. Rootsweb freepages accounts can only be used for genealogy sites.
