Judy, you're correct, removing the check mark does not 'delete' the tool bar........but at least it is no longer active. The Yahoo toolbar is not uninstalled; you've just removed it from view. This is like sweeping dirt under the rug. :) Judy in Ocala -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of john guy Sent: Monday, October 23, 2006 7:01 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] CCleaner and Yahoo Toolbar Thanks for all the help from kind listers who sent advice. Just for the record, in case others have this problem, only one method actually removed the toolbar. Doris told me to click on View in IE and remove the checkmark. They have apparently, long ago no doubt, found a way of making uninstall-resistant downloads. I had a problem with SSC Utility, which I downloaded when my Canon printer suddenly died. Even with Add/Remove programs, I still have a fraction of it clinging. It pops up when I start up. Also, I have never been able to remove the last bits of Symantec/Norton which show in programs. (I'm using WME, perhaps that's part of the problem?) As for CCleaner, it seems to work very well and I made a donation some time ago, but thanks to Nancy's advice, will look very carefully at any future downloads. (I still resent the idea that I have paid for something, and they want to make even more money by promoting Yahoo. But I'm old-fashioned.)
