Anne Last year I purchased a new Brother laser printer (black only) for just a bit less than the price you quoted for a drum. Printer prices have come down over the years although I am not so sure about the quality going up. It is easy for me to say since I am not the one with the problem, nevertheless I think I would go with a new printer. It is my understanding from things I have read that some of the printer manufactories do not update the older computers' program for printers to cover new operating systems. This could leave you out in the cold if you upgrade your operating system. Not a catch 22 situation, but close. <SNIP> > My old Brother laser printer has cranked out miles of paper for me. Or another way of looking at it: try the remanufactured drum. If it works, that's good, and you can continue to use your printer as long as you have your computer, maybe longer. If the remanufactured drum breaks the printer -- well, new printers don't cost as much as they used to. I recently bought a HP laser printer for $99. We would have spent that much on the inkjet cartridges that would have been needed to print a pile of family group sheets.
