    3. Well, I just learned the answer to that in the process of not finding out how to add this desktop icon to my task bar. In Windows XP, if you right click on the start icon in the lower left hand corner of the screen, you can choose taskbar properties. It lets you choose if and how you want to display all kinds of things - everything in God's green earth except teh desktop icon. But what does disconnect safely mean? Does that mean, this is what procedure I follow to unplug a scanner I seldom use from its USB port without the driver uninstalling itself?
