    3. Dear Helpers, Today in a newspaper I read that Eudora will no longer be inexistece after Version 7 is released. The suggestion was to go to Thunderbird. I alread use FireFox so now I have to find out about Thunderbird. I have used Eudoro for many years and have many files with genealogical information, addresses, etc. I've never learned how to copy those files, but maybe it's time to learn. Can someone please give me instructions? I use the free light version of Eudora. Thanks for any help I might receive. Pat New Hamshire -- No virus found in this outgoing message. 3. The report was not quite accurate. What is happening with Eudora is that it is becoming "free source" and will be worked on by the Mozilla Foundation. Mozilla provide Thunderbird and Firefox, probably two of the most well-known free source applications. You still will be able to continue to use your free Eudora, and in time the sponsored advertisements which appear will disappear. You can read more news about the move (planned for early 2007) here: http://blog.wired.com/monkeybites/2006/10/eudora_goes_ope.html. Your messages are safe for the forseeable future, but of course nothing is "guaranteed" these days, regardless of who makes it. > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > Sent: Sun, 22 Oct 2006 21:13:50 -0400 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] Eudora > > Dear Helpers, > > Today in a newspaper I read that Eudora will no longer be inexistece > after Version 7 is released. 3. I read something about that, too, but I didn't get any of the details. Anyway, I doubt that Eudora will completely "disappear". You'll still be able to use the Eudora that you have; there just may not be any new versions. From what I recall, Eudora will be folded into the Thunderbird project, and I would expect that there will be add-ons to convert Eudora mail to Thunderbird.
