    3. Hi Maureen Like this you mean? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ the Testament of the Reverend John Gerard of So.Ronaldsay and Burray. He died on 2 October 1850, according to his Testament. [The Orkney Archives reference number for this document is: SC11/41/2, pages 215-221 -- available from the Orkney Archivist; you are charged photocopying/mailing fees]. From what I can gather, the Ministry of Rev. John Gerard began in 1815, and lasted until his death in 1850 [source: "The Soul of an Orkney Parish" by Stuart D.B. Picken, The Kirkwall Press, Kirkwall, 1972 -- available, as far as I know, only by going to St.Mary's parish church on So.Ronaldsay and popping 2 pounds into the pot for a copy of this small, wonderful book -- I do not think it is in print any more; and I am not even sure if St. Mary's has any more copies]. As usual in many Testaments, a list of debts owed to the deceased at death is included in Rev.John Gerard's Testament.-- So, I thought I would extract, for you, some of those Orcadians (mainly! from the Reverend's Parish) that are included in this list in his Testament. I thought it would be fun for those of you connected to the following to r ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Windows has a small word processor called notepad (found under Accessories) which is ideal for the likes of your request Copy the text and paste into a notepad window, under the edit menu, select Replace, enter the > as the text to be replaced and leave the other box empty, selecting replace will remove the > all in one go leaving the text as above I also use notepad to remove HTML from copied text, just paste the HTML into notepad and cut and paste into whatever place you wish to Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) > Could anyone on the list please advise how to go about the following: I > have taken from a mailing list archives information in regard to a person > of interest to me to put into my notes section of my PAF software.
