    3. Have a look at what is offered here: http://www.1001freefonts.com/ There is an index of free ones across the top of the page, while the rest below are "pay for" ones. Alternatively search on Google using "free download+fonts" without the quotes. -----Original Message----- From: sandra@gemlakes.myrf.net Sent: Tue, 27 May 2008 10:34:17 -0600 To: gen-comp-tips-l@rootsweb.com Subject: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] fonts chart Does anyone know where I can find a font chart on the internet? 3. Jane, I'm learning photoshop/digiart as part of my art course at tafe. It depends what format your photos are saved in whether you can upload them into your editing program. If you go into your editing program and open a file in file, not new, open. You should be able to pick them up by brousing then my documents. if they are pdf docs you should be ok. I have office 2000 which saves as odt docs which won't go to photoshop. I have to save as into my memory stick or onto a cd as pdf docs. You can only try. If they won't go on then ask for them to be re-sent as pdf docs. Cheers. 3. Hi Jane, Try e-mailing the Word document to yourself. You will then be able to right click on each picture and save it into your graphics program. There are probably other ways of doing what you want, but I find this the quickest and easiest. Regards, Maureen in Sydney ----- Original Message ----- I have 2 pictures that were sent to me by email. There are in a Word document. I want to take those pictures and put them into a photo editing program. How do I do that?? When I right click on the picture I have a box that comes up that has: cut/copy/paste/edit picture/show picture toolbar/shadings/borders/format picture. Also have a little toolbar that comes up titled "picture" that has things like icons for "insert picture" "image control" "more contrast" etc.. Do I need to use this??? 3. I've had the same problem and after some experimenting found a way that worked for me. Try saving the word file as an ordinary (not compressed or filtered) web page (.htm, .html), say to your desktop. On your desktop you will find the htm/html file and a similarly-named directory. The picture files will be in the directory. There may be an easier way, but this should work. 3. I don't use Word, but I'm guessing if you use right-click/Copy and then paste (or paste from clipboard) into a graphics program, that ought to do it. You don't say what OS you're using, but in XP anyway there's a program called Paint, if you don't have anything else in the way of graphics software. Once you've copied in Word, go to Paint (it's under Accessories in your All Programs list) and click Paste, the picture ought to show up. -- JL JLog - simple computer technology for genealogists http://www3.telus.net/Jgen/jlog.html jane gillespie wrote: > I have 2 pictures that were sent to me by email. 2. Google for Hotkey Keyboard and see what you get. Be careful, however, as there will be a lot of ads for spyware removal programs, etc. that require a fee or subscription. Look long enough and you should find a forum someplace that may give you an easy solution. Bob **************Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight? Get new twists on family favorites at AOL Food. Hi Heather I understand your reluctance to jump in with both feet as the repercussions are immense Rather than look elsewhere on the net or take advice that may be in error, I would suggest subscribing to the Outlook-Express list This subject has been discussed in the past, there are postings in the archives to that effect I would start afresh on the OE list and I am sure Bob Hayes will be able to give you guidance Its better to ask questions beforehand and be confident you know what you are doing Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) > Many thanks Nivard for your helpful suggestions re my OE problem. > I am running IE6 and have compacted my files but this has not worked. > I am very hestitant though about deleting files > There are various sites on Google that claim to be able to fix OE but as a > silver surfer I am nervous in case these sites are suspect. > > Sorry to be a nuisance but I would appreciate your thoughts on these > sites. > > Heather

    3. Hi Heather To find the version number of your IE , open a window and look under the help menu, for About Internet Explorer The problem you have with OE sounds like a corrupted file (a google search indicates) The poster of the same problem some time ago was advised to move all e mails to a new folder, then locate the DBX file in question and delete it, OE will renew that folder (if it was a standard folder to begin with not one you have created) when next it opens and you can then move the e mails back Have you compacted your mails at all? You should do so before doing anything else (and with all programs closed and offline) Perhaps others will give you more specific instructions deleting of a corrupt file if pertinent Whatever the case, you should do a back up of your mails just in case of problems You may be aware already but there is a list for OE specific, a search of the archives might find the information you seek http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Internet_Help/OUTLOOK-EXPRESS.html Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) > Each time I log onto my computer and go to Outlook Express I receive a > message that 'Outlook Express has not shut down correctly.' > This message shows on the last message in my inbox and only on startup of > my PC. > > I have Googled the web for help but I am not a computer geek and the > language is way, way above my head. > Can anyone out there throw light and tell me in easy steps what needs to > be done to rectify the problem. > > I am running XP Home SP2 using Norton Anti-virus which is all updated etc. > This PC is new and was preloaded with XP but I do not know which version > of IE I am using. 3. Each time I log onto my computer and go to Outlook Express I receive a message that 'Outlook Express has not shut down correctly.' This message shows on the last message in my inbox and only on startup of my PC. I have Googled the web for help but I am not a computer geek and the language is way, way above my head. Can anyone out there throw light and tell me in easy steps what needs to be done to rectify the problem. I am running XP Home SP2 using Norton Anti-virus which is all updated etc. This PC is new and was preloaded with XP but I do not know which version of IE I am using. Where do I find that? It seems such a minor problem but is it one I should be concerned about? Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Heather

    3. Setting out a document like this is always tricky. You'll need to read up on section breaks. Each section will need to be formatted quite separately, with columns or whatever. Don't put any forced page breaks in until the very end, after you've seen how the sections work and how the automatic page breaks look. Watch out for long runs of (carriage) returns that might be causing you to have those long gaps in your text. I always find I must keep the formatting symbols showing too, so that I really know what's going on. Good luck! 3. I am attempting to compile into one document, perhaps thirty chapters. When all are compiled and I attempt to print, I find the pages have jumped around and will find a paragraph of the printed work, that begins for example, mid-page. Indices of three columns end up as one very long column. In reading Microsoft Word 2003 Help sections, I have concluded page breaks are either needed or they are the culprit. If this surmising is accurate, will some of you knowledgeable people direct me to a site other than Word 2003 Help, that might explain in very simple terms page breaks and uses for page breaks? If my surmising is inaccurate, will some person direct me to any source of help in determination of problem with solution? Thanks for any guidance. Barbara
