    3. If you are talking about the Picassa that is on-line that I use for sharing photos, I really love it. I just returned fairly recently from a homecoming event in SC for the cemetery that adjoined the Bush River MM in the late 1700's and early 1800's. I was able to share my photos on the picassa site and anyone can download them without having to purchase photos and order a CD....It was so successful that I then added a second album for a Hawkins/Elmore farm cemetery that I visited last weekend. I haven't done much editing with it, but the sharing is really fun. 3. could've been photoshop5..?? photoshop elements is appatrantly the same as photoshop cs3 but with a few extra bits thrown in. I have just bought elements on ebay but can't put it on till my extra ram gets here. I'm learning pscs3 at tafe, can get rather complicated but once you know the tools it's quite basic, & you need that extra memory so it 'travels' faster. Excellent for 'fixing' old photos & putting loooong panoramas together. <grin> Cheers. 3. Photoshop CS3 comes in two versions - CS3 and CS3 Extended. Both are at the "top" of the Photoshop family (Extended has more features for professionals). Not sure of Australian prices, but in the US, Adobe Photoshop CS3 is around $649, while Photoshop Elements is around $199. You can see by that difference the "extra bits thrown in" would be found in CS3 in great abundance rather than in Elements :-) http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/family/ > -----Original Message----- > From: acpittard@optusnet.com.au > Sent: Thu, 05 Jun 2008 15:51:22 +1000 > To: gen-comp-tips@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] Photo editing program advice needed > > could've been photoshop5..?? photoshop elements is appatrantly the > same as photoshop cs3 but with a few extra bits thrown in. 3. Hi Adobe Photoshop CS is 'Creative Suite' and is the next in line of the Adobe Photoshop versions. It is the cadillac of photo editing programs, hence its hefty price. It does superlative work but takes a great deal of training. It is far from the free photo editing program information that was requested. If you have a digital camera, there may have been a photo editing program included with it that is easy. Of course, you get what you pay for -- you may not be happy with the results. There was an Adobe program a few years ago (unfortunately I don't remember the name) but it was pretty basic, useer friendly and not terribly costly. A search on the net might find this for you. Good luck! Lucy > What in the world is Adobe Photoshop CS? I have Elements, but it isn't > as > user friendly as Paint Shop Pro, which does a bit more. 3. What in the world is Adobe Photoshop CS? I have Elements, but it isn't as user friendly as Paint Shop Pro, which does a bit more. Adobe Photoshop is something like $700. 3. The Gimp is on this page. I installed it, but I haven't found it at all easy to figure out how to use. I have Paint Shop Pro, which is not free but in the older versions is not all that expensive. Of course I don't know if they work with Vista. It sounds like this paint.net might be the thing - sounds like a free version of Paint Shop Pro, but I haven't tried it. I like Paint Shop Pro. 3. What sort of photo editing - juts basic, or more sophisticated? Kodak Easyshare's software id free and easy to use, not too sophisticated, but works well for the most basic things, and you don't have to use the camera with it. 2. I don't have an answer for you--as I do not have Vista. But you might try your old program on your new computer to see if it is compatible. Otherwise, just google for what you want and add +free to your search. You can usually find several answers by doing that. I just did a google search for Photo Editing +Vista +free and got a lot of links. Google.com Good luck. Bob In a message dated 6/2/2008 5:03:45 P.M.
