Kathleen, If you search the web you can find WordPerfect for as low as $13.00 plus shipping. If WP will do the job that would be the least cost solution. My mother never made it to the computer age, but she did enjoy her Brother Word Processor. She passed away recently and I've found a box full of disks with files she created that I'd like to access, put into MSWord format and share with the family. When I try to access the disks on my PC(XP), I can see that the files are in .wpt format. I can also open them with Notepad, but I get a ton of garbage around the data. Can anyone recommend some sort of conversion software (at a reasonable price!) to get these files in a usable format? Thanks for any help. Kathleen Craine Chicago
Kathleen, I use WordPerfect, send me one of the files and I will see if it opens in WordPerfect. Kathleen, The wpt format is currently used by WordPerfect for a template file. It was also, as you noted , used by Brother Word Processors. If you know someone who has WordPerfect, I would suggest you let them try to open the file and see if it works. I could do this for you, if you are willing to send me the file off-list. The other option is a conversion program, as you mentioned. In searching the web, I found one that will do the job. It is not cheap (cost $149). Hi Has anyone used MP3 Safe-share to record music? Thanks PAT
I have recently, after several attempts managed to rename a couple of drafts folders. It kept telling me I couldn't do it, but then I noticed it was done. Howver the folder was empty. Remembering to title of some, I did a find and they were in the "old name" folder, which was not on the structured list on the left of the screen. What about the others? Using Win Explorer into my folder structure, C:\Windows\application data\Identidies\F31c....\Microsoft\Outlook Express, there were all my folders as .dbx files, yet invisible via OE. How do I get at them in order to move the messages into a folder that OE can see? John Dowding

Glenn, it could be that your firewall is blocking the download. You may need to adjust the settings to allow the download. It depends on your definition of "safe", Janet. Incredimail make no secret of the fact that they monitor just what you do on your computer. They even tell you about that in the "User's Agreement". User's Agreements unfortunately are very rarely read by the "user". They just blithely click "Accept" and carry on with the installation. This is from the "User's Agreement": [QUOTE} GENERAL USAGE PATTERNS IncrediMail may gather information related generally to Users' use of the Software, Service, and Site including without limitation: The number of Messages that a User sends; The number of Messages that are read; What elements of the Service are most often used; User log-in dates and time; and Message size data. This information, which will only be collected and maintained in aggregate, anonymous form, will be used to, among other things: Provide IncrediMail with a better understanding of how Users use the Service and the various features thereof; Help IncrediMail to create and provide new services and offerings to Users; and Conduct and publish aggregate, anonymous, market research results. COMPUTER SETTINGS IncrediMail may collect settings, technical and other information from Users' computers, such as a computer's operating system, IncrediMail and browser versions used, connectivity, various communication parameters and other information related to the operation and interaction of the Software, subject to the provisions herein. This information will neither contain nor be linked to any personally identifiable information. CONSENT TO PROCESSING Users, including without limitation, Users in the European Union, fully understand and unambiguously consent to the collection and processing of their personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information, in the United States." [END QUOTE] It may pay to read some user's comments published on this site, too: http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3302-2367-10127472.html?tag=mta And if you have installed it and want to rid your computer of it, here are some steps to help: If you have installed it in a normal Windows fashion, it should show in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS. If it doesn't, it should have an "uninstall" icon in the program folder. You can safely DELETE the remaining folders/files that were from Incredimail. You can also do a FIND for IncrediMail and delete the files that appear. You should then follow the instructions in this Microsoft article which will help with the registry entries which will appear in the registry: OLEXP: "Cannot Find Incredimail.exe" Error Message When You Open Attachment After Removing Incredimail: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q297069 The final thing to remember is that this program sends your mail in HTML. That format is not acceptable on lists, so you will need to change to Plain Text each time you write to or reply to a list. Remember too that HTML increases the size of a message considerably. Some people with limited downloads may object to receiving the overloaded messages Incredimail creates. If all of the above does not concern you in anyway, by all means use the program. Some have found it to their liking. Hope this helps. Print Folder v.1.2 is part of a freeware range of utilities available from No Nonsense Software. It is similar in operation to Karen Kenworthy's Directory Printer. There is also a more advanced Print Folder Pro so be careful which download you click on if downloading from this site: http://no-nonsense-software.com/download.shtml From experience, I have found that DirPrinting produces a result that is much easier to read and the result can be pasted into a database program for further use. Another of their shareware programs which is worth looking at is SuperCat. I find this program is much faster than using the Windows XP Search feature. Yes, DirPrinting will do exactly that, Genlistlass. Just make sure all the options on the tool bar at the top are selected: "Show Dirs", and "Search in SubDirs". Selecting those will give you a complete listing of ALL folders and their contents.
