    3. That means you put files in the folder that represents the CD drive, and it's waiting for you to go ahead and write them to the CD. Did you put the files in the wrong place, or do you really want to write a CD? If the latter, you should be able to open the folder for the CD drive, see the files collected there, and either there will be an option on the left Write files to CD, or click on file on top of the folder window and choose write the files to CD. Watch it and make sure it actually writes them. Sometimes it does not and you have to try again with a new CD. You have to have a CD drive that will write CD's to do this, but then I don't THINK you'd get that message if you don't. 3. This was installed by CCleaner, who seem to know what they're doing. I repeat, Yahoo Toolbar was not removed by Add/Remove. After being clicked, the list of programs jumps so you can't see Yahoo at the bottom of the list, but when you click down, it's still there. I can click Add/Remove until I'm blue in the face, but it is uninstallable by that method. As long as I can't see it, I don't care, as it doesn't interfere with anything, as far as I know... Doris told me to click on View in IE and remove the checkmark. They have apparently, long ago no doubt, found a way of making uninstall-resistant downloads. I had a problem with SSC Utility, which I downloaded when my Canon printer suddenly died. Even with Add/Remove programs, I still have a fraction of it clinging. It pops up when I start up. Also, I have never been able to remove the last bits of Symantec/Norton which show in programs. (I'm using WME, perhaps that's part of the problem?) 3. I read something about that, too, but I didn't get any of the details. Anyway, I doubt that Eudora will completely "disappear". You'll still be able to use the Eudora that you have; there just may not be any new versions. From what I recall, Eudora will be folded into the Thunderbird project, and I would expect that there will be add-ons to convert Eudora mail to Thunderbird. 1. Re: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] Eudora
    2. n.east
    3. The report was not quite accurate. What is happening with Eudora is that it is becoming "free source" and will be worked on by the Mozilla Foundation. Mozilla provide Thunderbird and Firefox, probably two of the most well-known free source applications. You still will be able to continue to use your free Eudora, and in time the sponsored advertisements which appear will disappear. You can read more news about the move (planned for early 2007) here: http://blog.wired.com/monkeybites/2006/10/eudora_goes_ope.html. Your messages are safe for the forseeable future, but of course nothing is "guaranteed" these days, regardless of who makes it. > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > Sent: Sun, 22 Oct 2006 21:13:50 -0400 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] Eudora > > Dear Helpers, > > Today in a newspaper I read that Eudora will no longer be inexistece > after Version 7 is released. Why do they lose goodwill and irritate customers by making it so difficult to uninstall? Any other ideas gratefully received. Also I can't find a way of emailing CCleaner and it's not in FAQ--- but you can send them money through PayPal of course. John ............ John, Have you tried using the tools in CCleaner? There is a good uninstaller built into CCleaner, and maybe you can use the option of "remove only" for the program. I went to the CCleaner website to read about the newest update. When you click to download the new version, the download installer page comes up. Look under "what's new in this version" and see "other builds." In looking at the "other builds" page it offers two versions of CCleaner without the toolbar option. Wishing you good luck, Nancy O.

What makes you think it is counterfeit software? This usually won't cause too much of a problem as far as performance goes though. Have you installed any new software or hardware on your computer lately? If so try un-installing it, re-boot your computer & see if it makes any difference. If it is a new piece of hardware try updating the drivers that may make a difference. A defrag of the computer can also make a difference at times.. It may remove the toolbar. It is a pity CCleaner includes that as a default install rather than making it an option. Once you have uninstalled CCleaner and hopefully, Yahoo toolbar, too, reinstall CCleaner and make sure the Yahoo toolbar is unselected. > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: [email protected] > > Sent: Sat, 21 Oct 2006 23:20:03 +0200 > > To: [email protected] > > Subject: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] CCleaner and Yahoo > > > > I just downloaded the latest version of CCleaner, and they have installed > > the Yahoo Tool Bar.
