.art files are an AOL (America Online) format. Very few other programs support that format. You could try installing AOL's software and see if you can open the files, then resave as jpeg. Try opening the files, one at a time, in AOL's browser. Just hope you have better luck than I've had. If you have an original install CD for Windows 98 you should be able to reinstall from the CD, as long as the computer boots from the CD. If it doesn't, you may need to check the BIOS boot sequence. In control Panel under display, I have chosen "my pictures slideshow" as my screensaver. So I have my family & genealogy pictures going as a slideshow. Is there anyway I could have music playing during the slideshow. Now some Christmas music would be nice. I have OE Express 7. I use both FireFox & IE (lastest versions) and have Windows XP. I have ITunes also on the computer (if that makes a difference) Jane McCombs Gillespie [email protected] McComb/McCombs SC AL MS FL Gillespie/Glaspy SC AL TX Hopewell Presbyterian CH McCormick Co SC
Actually I have the same problem. I've not had time to figure it all out yet but I highly suspect it was a Windows Update. A couple of days ago, I did a complete Restore of my laptop (I am using my sons laptop to send this message) Everything went absolutely fine. My internet was connected perfectly, I reinstalled all My Documents and Pictures as well as my Family Tree data. All was well for a couple of days. Last night I was repositioning photos in My Pictures, when my battery expired and my system went into hibernation. This was no problem to me and I closed the lid down. However, this morning, when swithching on the laptop, a BLACK screen appeared with the messsage:- """""The system could not be restarted from its previous location due to a read failure. Delete restoration date and proceed to system boot menu.""""""" What does that mean and can someone please tell me what to do next??? I am a computer novice and desparately need help. regards Rita Barfield _________________________________________________________________ It's Hotmail's 10th Birthday! I believe you would just drag the file to the location you want (open two screens at minimum) or use 'Move To' the correct location unless you have some special circumstance that won't allow it. ...... I think you are right Sue. I had forgotten that handy little bit of information. I have been experimenting with holding the control key down and scrolling with the mouse and I notice the same large cursor and expanded ruler bar that I had before I called Corel. I enlarged my text and checked the Zoom feature mentioned earlier and it had changed to 180% so I put it back to 100% and the text changed to regular size. My lesson for today and I thank you for your suggestion. Regards, Dawn ----- Original Message ----- From: "R. Sue P. Hullo Dawn, I am using Word Perfect 13. Go to Format , then Font - open font menu which will give you a choice of font types and sizes. Select your text then chose Font size. Dead easy. Don't forget to select your text. Otherwise the change in size will not operate.
