Montenaken is a village, now in the Belgian province of Limburg; Weert is now in the Dutch province of Limburg. Jan Franszoon Montenaken was the son of Frans van Montenaken or Franchois Montenack, cloth dyer in Weert (mentioned 1617), whose heir he was in 1655, and Grietgen van Winckel. The whole family was in the textile business, as can be seen in the database of the late Leo Adriaenssen about migration from Brabant to Haarlem (http://www.leoadriaenssen.nl/databases.html, 'Meijerij 1610-1619').
