Quite a mystery. -- Blessings, Connie Mayo http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/1612/index.html The Lydick Connection--See MASTER INDEX-136 files! He is risen from the dead and He is Lord! Hi Connie, I think I may have been to your website before. It may have come up = under my search for Kuhns information. There is a good possibility that = you may have made a connection. Columbus seems to be an odd name and I = haven't seen it used a lot. Mary Ann Kuhns was born in Alpsville, = Versailles Township, Allegheny Co. PA She named her son Columbus (aka = Lum) Geiger after her brother Columbus. It's a good possibility that = she named her son, David Geiger after a brother named David. I don't know much about Columbus Kuhns. He apparently lived in the = Paintertown, Penn Township, Westmoreland Co, PA area. He took in Mary = Ann's children after Mary Ann divorced Daniel Geiger. He was married to = a woman named Mary Catherine, who was also known as Mary Kate. Mary Ann's children were: Sarah Geiger (1862), Sylvester Geiger (1865), = Grant Geiger (1866), Louis Geiger (1867), Columbus Kuhns Geiger (1869), = Mary Geiger (1870) Josephine Geiger (1871) David Geiger (1872), Lizzie = Farrell (1884) and Tommy Farrell (1886). >From what I was told, Mary Ann and Daniel moved to Iowa around 1868. = She divorced Daniel in 1879. The children were sent back to = Paintertown, PA to live with Columbus Kuhns. Mary Ann stayed in Iowa = where she marred ? Flaherty. They split up in 1882 (not sure if it was = death or divorce), she married ? Farrell in 1882. When Lum Geiger was about 13, he broke his leg while working in a = coalmine. While he was resting in bed, he saw a face in the window. It = was Daniel Geiger coming back to take him to Iowa. Lum said no, so = Daniel told him if he couldn't have him as a son, no one would. Daniel = went to get a shotgun. He tried to shoot Lum, but Lum was able to roll = under the bed. Daniel was gone by the time Columbus Kuhns got back with = the constable. No one knows what happened to Daniel. =20 I know this is a lot of information, but if anything sounds familiar, = let me know. I've had a tough time finding anything on the Kuhns = family. If any of this rings a bell for you, please let me know. I'm interested in Mary Ann Kuhns family. Particularly, in Columbus Kuhns. I MAY connect to this Kuhns family, but right now, I don't know. If I do, it would be that my John Kuhns/Kuntz may have been a brother to Mary Ann. There's a David Kuhns who is supposed to have had a son, Columbus who, in fact, settled in All. Co. I hope you have some info on these Kuhns. They lived in Conemaugh Twp., Indiana County - nr Tunnelton and Saltsburg. -- Blessings, Connie Mayo http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/1612/index.html The Lydick Connection--See MASTER INDEX-136 files!
