I am trying to discover the truth about the parentage of my ancestress, Anna Maria Geiger. She was born about 1750-5 and was married to William Stafford in 1773 at the old Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Effingham Co., GA. They had three known children: Mary, Abraham and Dinah. Mary (my line) married Simeon Travis of Warren Co., GA, son of William Travis and Abigail Denmark. Sometime in the late 1700s, William Stafford died and a Mary Stafford, widow, transferred personal property to her mother, Ann Mary Magdeline Geiger, in Effingham Co., GA. Later, Anna Maria (or Ann Mary or Mary Ann) was married to Jacob Hoffman/Huffman and removed to Bulloch Co., GA. Huffman died by 1812/3 and Simeon Travis was administrator of his estate. My question. Was this Anna Maria (AKA Mary, Ann Mary) Geiger Stafford Huffman the daughter of Ulrich Geiger? Since he did have a daughter named Mary Huffman, but per many sources his wife was named Apolonia. I know that the deed which sold Ulrich's land was dated after the death of Jacob Huffman so, as his widow she could have transacted business without her husband signature. You see, so many things point to my Mary Huffman being Ulrich's daughter, but the problem of Ann Mary Magdeline and Apologia makes me have some doubts. John H.
