Sorting out these Kyger/Kyger/Geigers is getting very complicated. However, I'm glad its you. Sorry to have used your own questions, but I thought it would be of help as you read my answers. Next time, new sheet. He is my 3gggrand- father. Dan Kyger of Vermilion Co. is Daniel's son as well as Henry and John Kyger. I believe Henry and John were living on their own place. > >OK in 1840 Daniel is still in Butler--and YOUR Daniel is in Vermilion just >like you said he would be along with lots of his family members. However, >there is now an Adam Kigar in Monroe County--Kay is he one of yours who may >have stayed behind? And if not does anyone know just WHO he is? -->As I stated earlier, all my Kyger's went on to IL. I'm not sure if they all went at the same time, but I believe this to be so. As I said earlier, there was some doubt as to James remaining in OH, but if he did it was for a short time. I haven't been able to find any of his descendants yet. I'm going to make more tries. The Kyger family spent a lot of years in OH and I'm sure that eventually I'll be able to find out more about their history. I'm sure there are a lot more books out there with information about them. They were, after all, first pioneers of Monroe Co. Each time I spend several hours in the library, I find another little bit about Daniel and his activities. I can't account for the first 34 years of his life. I do know his actual birth date, so we don't need to guess on that part. He could have been a very macho man, tromping through the wilderness doing what macho men did in that time period. Whatever he did, he was able to see his sons and daughters educated and in business. One was even a lawyer. Hope this helps. Kay > >
