I am going to throw this one out to the list. This is not specifically a GEIGER or KIGER question but we have many list members who are researching both Geigers and Kigers in Fairfield County, Ohio. An excellent researcher of early Fairfield County families (Rebecca Huddle) has been discussing with me something she recently learned about that might prove to be a source of genealogical information on early Fairfield families. So I am copying our exchange of dialogue below. Does anyone know anything about the Granville Alexandrian Society? Another researcher in Fairfield County indicated she had run into the Society and it was dealing with money. The society in at least one case was represented by Charles Sherman, I believe the father of William T. Sherman. > If so--now the question is--where does one go to find the records? Sounds like it might be helpful when researching the > early settlers of Fairfield! In the land deal that cause the problem with my ancestor, the land records have Charles R. Sherman's name, not the Granville Alexandrian Society name. Its name only appeared in the Civil Case. That peeked my curiosity! Is the Society and business group or a religious group? Who was Granville Alexandria? If they were lending money, why didn't their name appear on the land record? (I will check the next time I am in Lancaster to see if it appeared in any deed records.) Did the Society only loan money in Fairfield Co? Rebecca
