I am assuming you don't know whether John Geiger came to America as an adult (shortly before 1860) or whether he came earlier with his parents. Have you checked the 1850 Hamilton County, Ohio census? You mentioned checking census records but I wonder whether you have looked for John with his parents in 1850. The index I have shows the following Geigers in Hamilton County in 1850: Gottfried Geiger, Cincinnati, 10th ward, page 104 Elizabeth Geiger, Spencer Twp., page 249 John Geiger, Sycamore Twp.page 419 There are also a whole bunch of Geyers and one Kiger in this county who could have been Geiger with a variant spelling if the above don't work out. Also, are you familiar with the German To America series of books? It might be difficult to actually find the ship arrival record in those books for a John Geiger unless you know more specifically the date he emigrated to America. How about immigration or naturalization records--have you looked for those? Joan
