Kyger: Kay, I will defer to your knowledge of these Kygers--I was only presenting a possible theory in that VERDA DOES sound a bit like something a man named VIRD would name a daughter when he didn't have a son to name after himself. Also, something is wrong with the picture here. If Verda Belle Kyger was born in 1912 she cannot have married in 1911--perhaps this is a birth year and not a marriage year? Kay, I know a long time ago you had sent me some of your Kyger family files but I am not sure I ever saw the ones you just posted. If I did it was long before I knew what I now know about the Kigers of Greene County, Pennsylvania. The summer 1998 issue of The Kiger Kounter newsletter was mailed yesterday and you should be receiving it shortly. It gives great detail on the Greene County Kigers. Seeing the names in the chart you just sent I want you to read the Greene County article carefully. Although the Greene County family spelled the surname Kiger and yours spelled the name with a Y there is NO doubt in my mind that the families are connected to each other. The fun is going to be in figuring out just HOW they are related. Do you have any idea where the name Leota came from in the family of William Henry Kyger and Susan Belle Rodgers? It also appears in the Greene County Kiger family. I have never heard that name elswhere. I have said from the beginning that you and Dorothy and the other need to compare files and we need to put information on Fielding Kyger/Kiger into the picture also. These Kiger/Kygers are all related back there somewhere. Joan
