Earlier I posted some entries from the Alsace records for Geigers and Geyers with some German passages and professions not translated. Here are the translations that go with them. Occupations: Schneider=tailor Schulmeister=Schoolmaster Hofsattlemeister=estate saddler--saddle-maker Schuhmacher=shoemaker Pfarrer=minister Pfrtner=porter or door-keeper translations of German passages: von ihrem Vetter dem Sattler-Michel Geyer-Begraben=buried by their cousin the saddler Michel Geyer (probably means buried at his expense) Uber die Stadtmauer gefallen=fell over the city wall welcher nach Straburg geflohen und von dannen krank wiederkommen=who fled to Strassburg and then from sickness returned (he didn't just leave--he fled--and returned in sickness) spter in Ltzelstein=formerly from Ltzelstein Sebastian Geiger--I had stated he was Master Juror for one year--it is more like the Chief Judge in American terms.
