Joan asked me to answer your post. I can see why. We obviously are following the same Kyger family, but I feel like there is a short circuit somewhere. The family of Daniel and Charity Lines are as follows: Alpheus Kyber b. 2 Oct 1828 Ulessus Virdon Kyger (called "Vird") b. 23 Mar 1831 +married Margaret McCaw who died bef 1877. Melvina Kyger b. 1 Mar 1833 Viena Kyger b. 14 Jun 1835 +married George Arafield Martha June Kyger b. 30 Nov 1837 +married Jacob Stoner Mary Ann Kyger b. 7 Oct 1840 +married Charles Hall Bassett Brookville, Franklin Co., IN 25 Aug 1863 died 30 Jul 1929 Gary, Lake Co. IN buried City Cem. Elwood, IN Candessa Kyger b.Feb 1843 d. 25 Jun 1902 +maried Andrew M. Bell Amanda Jane Kyger b. 6 Apr 1845 +m. ? Fish Adaline Jane Kyger b. 1 Jun 1849 +m. G.C. Enslinger Ida Kyger b. 26 Jul 1859 d. bef 1870 This is a family with whom I am most familiar. My mother was a granddaughter of Mary Ann Kyger Bassett and was familiar with all her sisters and some brothers. I have a great deal of information about this family, but thought first we should clarify our two records. I'm not sure where to begin that process. Maybe if you tell me where you got your information, between us we can straighten things out. My information is a combination of Mother's stories and my research. I just looked at your list again. I'll bet some (Mary M. Kyger who m. Alvin T. Hughes, Viola Kyger who m. Irving Hendricks, Verda B. Kyger who m. James A. Elliot, Ulysses V. Kyger who m. Ella Y. Payton, and Mary L. Kyger who m. John W Ayers belong to other Kyger families. Joan will be glad to get that information as they are in the process of trying to straighten out all the Kiger families in Indiana and Ohio. Dorothy P.S. I just had an interesting thought. Mother told me that Vird Kyger left on horseback to go to town. He was never heard from again. His wife and baby son died and his other two children lived with relatives for a while. There's more to the story about his children, but I wonder if the Ullysses V. Kyger who married Ella Y. Payton could be the same as the one who disappeared. The family concluded that he was dead, but as far as I know there was no evidence. They lived in Monon, Indiana and Dick Andis, who lives near there, is going to see if he can find anything on the story. Where did you get the information on Vird's marriage? I'd like to pursue that to either prove or disprove the theory.
