I also got a message from Helen Fest telling me there is a Franklin Township in Washington County. It looks like I will need to do a bit more detective work before I figure this one out. I think my next step is to look for records in any Lutheran Churches in the counties with Franklin Townships. Especially since this Benjamin and family are missing from the census in 1800 as far as I can tell. Joan
