Dorothy, it would seem that the newly located will of Susanna Geiger would force a revision to your FGS (in progress). The way I would read it is that Susanna Saylor married twice--first to Martin Harry, Jr. and with his she had the following children probably in this order: Jacob Harry John Harry Elizabeth Harry George Martin Harry Amelia Harry It would then appear that he died and she remarried an unknown Geiger and had the following children from the second marriage: Jacob Geiger Frances Geiger Eleanor Geiger Henrietta Geiger My guess would be that Frances didn't marry a Geiger, she WAS a Geiger (or perhaps she was a Geiger who married a Geiger). I have my suspicions that the son Jacob Geiger may be the Jacob Geiger that shows up in the History of Washington County, MD in 1813 as a Private in the Hagerstown Militia. There is also an entry about Rev. Jacob Geiger, Ref. minister in Carroll County, MD from 1823-1848 who died 19 Oct. 1848 at the age of 55 years and 2 days making his birthdate 17 Oct. 1793. His first wife was a daughter of Jacob and Mary Seltzer. The first wife died in 1835. In Hagerstown records I also found the following other Geigers: John Geiger and Jas. Geiger: 1791 and on I find John Geiger-militia Capt. in 1793-1794, 1793 Commissioner, 1800 Hagerstown Judge of Elections, Trustee of Sr. John's Lutheran Church in 1791, 1795 school board member (along with a Jas. Geiger). 1790 Merchants: Geiger and Harry--Hagerstown. >From History or Washington County, MD: "Miss Elizabeth Harry was connected with one of the original families of the town (Hagerstown), and there reared her three nieces, the Misses Geiger, who became the wives of Rev. Mr. Johns, Tilghman Holliday and Benjamin G. Fitzhugh." Also from the History of Washington County: "John Geiger associated John Harry with him in the dry-goods business, Feb. 23, 1803, and of the same date Jacob Harry opened his dry-goods business in the store-room formerly occupied by Samuel and David Claggett." Elsewhere John Geiger is identified as a tanner. Also from the History of Washington County: "Mrs. Sarah E. Baker, wife of George, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kiger) Criswell, natives of Virginia. Elizabeth Ellen Kiger born 30 April 1816 married Joseph Criswell at Boonsboro on 8 April, 1834." >From Western Maryland Newspaper Abstracts: WSM Nov. 18, 1790 Susanna Geiger, Jacob Harry, Hagerstown, request payment to estate of Martin Harry, decd. In Funkstown I found: 1786 Frederick Geiger--subscriber to a newspaper. 1857 Frederick Geiger is Trustee of German Ref. Church in Funkstown (possibly a son of the earlier Frederick?). Carroll County Geigers: Peter Geiger 1837 County Commissioner--Peter Geiger born 19 May 1784 and died 7 August 1858 buried with Charlotte his wife. >From History of Western Maryland: town of Manchester: Joseph Geiger 1828 Dr. Charles Geiger 1836 --both named in this book. Frederick County, MD census 1790: John Kiger: 2 free white males 16 and over, 3 white males under 16, 3 free white females Leonard Kiger: 1 free white male over 16, 3 free white females Leonhard Kiger: 2 free white males over 16, 5 free white females >From Names in Stone Vol. 1 Frederick County Cemeteries: Thurmont (Apple's Church): Leonard Geiger 31 Oct 1833, 77-11-22 (which would mean he was born in 1755) and his wife Eve M. died 5 Aug. 1849 age 75-5-7 Records of the Frederick, MD Evangelical Lutheran Church: October 9, 1787--marriage of Johannes Groschang and Anna Maria Geigern proclaimed. Witnesses: Jacob Drachsel (Troxel), Leonhardt Geiger, Owen McDonald. NOTE: The Troxels were very much allied with the Geigers of Egypt Church in Lehigh County (now Northampton) before moving to Maryland. These records can be found on the Internet at the Lehigh County Genweb site. March 31, 1782--marriage of Jacob Haux and Catharina Schulzin--among the witnesses are Jacob Geiger and wife Elizabeth (this would be Jacob Geiger, son of Valentine Geiger, Jr. and his first wife Sarah Vetato). June 6, 1802--marriage of Mr. Christopher Pellmann and widow Elizabeth Edward, nee Geiger, in the presence of various friend, in the house of Mr. Christoph berheusler, after thrice proclaimed. >From Maryland Marriages 1778-1800: John Kiger married 23 March 1791 ro Esther Shitzen in Frederick County. Frederick County Land records: resurveyed land: name--"Discontentment"--244 acres--Jacob Geger 1793. Query on Mid-Atlantic Roots list July 10, 97: Looking for information about Israel H.L. Norris who married Margaret Geiger or Maryland (Carroll County- Frederick Co.) on 22 May 1849. She was his second wife. The couple had three children between 1850-1856. OK--now you all know just about everything I know about Geigers and Kigers in Maryland. Can anyone fit them all in their rightful places? Joan
