Thank you Sara! I have old letters that were written in the 50s regarding the settlement of my grandmother's estate in Germany. It was a huge estate, with a factory and she built it up after her husband died in 1905. Raised her children with the help of a nanny. I have gorgeous pictures of the home and the backyard scenes when my father was a child. Gorgeous pictures in perfect shape. She sent pictures of my 4th great grandmother and many of the early relatives. As an ardant geneologist when I was born, she sent a charyt for my father to fill out. He didn't but I have all of her many missels she sent. She and an Uncle took 14 years to document with the help of professionals the hisory of my father's family which were a titled family. In 1936 they published a few copies of the books for family members. I got one through a fluke after my father's death. So the 27 generations are intact as I had them translated by a German translator who married a GI and came to the USA. However the history of what happened after the bombing of the house and factory and the death of all my male first cousins in WWII has left a void. These few letters mean a lot to me. What a legacy my Grandmother left me. Wish I had gotten to meet her but her Letters I still have laboriously written in English with a German English dictionary. Too bad this didn't tie to the Geigers, which are my husband's mother's lineage.
