I am looking for information on Elizabeth Kiger who married Isaac Hunter in Rockingham Co., Va. in Oct. 1812. At the time of her marriage, her legal guardian was Benjamin Kiger. Her father was Anthony Kiger (dscd). After her marriage she and Isaac moved to Ohio and stayed for several years, long enough to have a daughter, Matilda who was born somewhere in OH. Isaac and Elizabeth may have been accompanied to OH by her uncle Jacob Kiger. Isaac and Elizabeth eventually ended up in the Wabash River valley in Vigo Co. , IN. Elizabeth died in what they called the "fort" where the early settlers had to go when the Indian attacks became too severe. Her death was ca. 1815-1818. Isaac Hunter died in 1819 in a drowning accident on the Wabash River. The administrator of his estate was Jacob Kiger who subsequently raised Matilda HUnter. Does anyone have any idea where the Hunters may have lived in Ohio? I would like to find Isaac Hunter on the tax list of some county in Ohio. He lived in OH after 1812 until ca. 1817. I have not been able to find where Isaac and Elizabeth lived before they moved to IN.
