(Clue to why the > Geigers left?) Well Maggie, it does tell us that other Germans were settling in Stone Arabia--so maybe they had family there. One clarification--I have no knowledge that the Geigers settled there--only the allied Spiess family. I doubt that they were UEL or they too would have most likely ended up in Canada and not North Carolina. It does show German settlement in Stone Arabia though. Somehow I never thought of New York--other than the early Schoharie settlement as being a hotbed of German settlement. Thanks for the information. Joan
