Sterling Pomeroy. That would make his birth year 1884 or 5. This does not agree with census records (often in error) but it does agree with what my grandmother said his age was. More than likely he was a chef in a hotel (that is what Grandma said) as that seems to be his occupation wherever he went. By 1920 they were in Sioux Falls SD and by 1925 in Lima OH a chef at the Norval Hotel, 1944 Fremont OH at the Hotel Fremont; after that I do not know. George Geiger states in 1930 he was a veteran of WWI. I have not been able to locate this record. The online Draft registrations all seem to be 1917-18; quite a few by that name, but none of them right. I would guess he was in earlier. It also says his first marriage was at age 20. Grandma said he was born in Chicago but on the 1920 and 1930 censuses instead of Illinois it says "United States!"
