Wow, Kim I never knew you had so much on this...anyway, I don't really know from concrete evidence, but I do know that, strangely, Eleanor J. Dikes/Dykes/Coates??? Gieger is not mentioned in the Zachariah Bible, although she was the mother of his children...and her tombstone says Eleanor J., wife of Zechariah(?). Martha Dikes IS listed in the Bible. I know that Lovey Gieger, w/o the late Kenneth Gieger(who is the grandson of Jessie David Gieger of Hardin County TX) who descends from Abram M. Gieger, Zachariah's brother, has been working on Mary T. Coats, who was their grandmother...She recently relocated to New Zealand and may not be back on-line yet, but I hope she sees this stuff and gets into the discussion... You all work it out, and I will interject whenever I see something that I know...I have the application of Mary T. (Coates) Gieger for a Civil War Widow's Pension, and also his Roster stating he was K-I-A. Got it at the MS State Archives. >From: "Kim" <ninalee@tecinfo.com> >To: "Gerald Gieger" <giegerg@hotmail.com>, <rjohn@bayou.com> >CC: <bzb@houston.rr.com>, <pwdarmo@yahoo.com>, <R.Gary.Leonard@mci.com>, ><ratclif@bayou.com>, <Loveyken@aol.com> >Subject: Re: Dykes(Dikes) >Date: Thu, 27 Jan 2005 01:12:04 -0600 > >I think you have your generations confused. The children >of Benjamin and Martha are Benjamin was born (according to his headstone >he >was born June 8, 1835) but some info have the year 1833 and 1837. On his >death certificate it lists Elizabeth Coates to be his mother. Sarah in >c1836. George Washington in c1838. Martha in c1841. Cynthia in c1844. >Now....back to the death certificate...maybe her name was Martha Elizabeth >Coates or Elizabeth Martha Coates, or maybe Benjamin had been married >before >to Elizabeth Coates and Martha could have been her sister whom he married >after. I don't know. Wesley Dykes who died several years ago gave me a >copy of B.F. Dykes death certificate. > >In the 1850 census of Jasper Co. That information I received from >a decendant of Younger Welborn. After she died (before 1865) he married >Frances Gunter Dykes after G.W. Dykes was killed. I am linked to the >Gunter line because Allen was my 3rd great grandfather. There is also a >Younger Welborn b. 1805/1808 who m. Elizabeth Bryant.
