Hi, Jeanette: My grandmother was a GEIGER. Her 3rd great-grandfather was Abraham GYGER, born 1687 Haslach, SG, SWT (wife: Cathrina SCHELLIG). Abraham, his brother - former Cantonal Gov. Hans Jacob GYGER, and the latter's son Herman GYGER brought their families to Charleston, SC, in 1737. All went to the Orangeburg area and changed the spelling of name to GEIGER, but some years later, Abraham's son, Hans Ulrich GEIGER, now grown and married, removed his family to Effingham Co., GA. Ulrich's son was Felix; his son was John Martin, who removed to FL about 1833; his son was Anson, his daughter was Victoria, my grandmother. You might want to check the IGI database at LDS Family History Center. I found a lot of GEIGERs listed throughout the German part of SWT - probably all related in some way.
