Salü, a couple of years ago in a local library I got a copy of "A Brief Summary of the Visit of Mary E. Brandon to Germany in June, 1937", prepared and presented with her love and affection for all the descendants of Andrew Bermetz and Elizabeth Geiger. Mary Brandon's husband was Bill Brandon and they sailed the S.S. Normandy back home in Juli 1937. It seems they were on a genealogical tour. They were looking for the Bermetz family at Lindau, Germany, near the Swiss-German-border. Another name is mentioned, Kliebenschedel, "whose wife was the sister of our Dad". It seems that Mary's or Bill's grandmother had been a Geiger with the first name "Elizabeth". They met Elizabeth's brother Matthias, a widower living on a farm about five hours walk from Fuessen, Germany, on June 18, 1937. And finally we get an explanation: Years ago there were three Bermetz Brothers. David had a son Andresas, Mary's Father. Andreas hat a son Andreas and Georg a son Matthias. "Thus endeth our story. I could easily be constructed into a novel. The characters are real and wholesome. Time will not permit that the tale be written in a more interesting fashion. Nevertheless we have attempted to present the facts that we im America who are descended from Andrew Bermetz and Elizabeth Geiger, those two you adventurers who left Germany 65 years ago, may have some definite knowledge nd a specific picture of our ancestral nativity. We hope that you enjoy the story. We trust that you will preserve it for those who are to follow. Lovingly, Mary and Bill Brandon" Then they met Franz Christa (without telling the relation) who lived at Fussen, Bavaria, Germany, Sonnenstrasse 9.
