Well, the word "Geiger" is the same, "fiddler". Also "Fiedler" is an older word and out of use here in German. You may find it in some songs or poems and it has a special touch; a Fiedler is more a self-teached fiddler while a Geiger is a fiddler who learned his job. If you mention one of the members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra a Fiedler he may get mad about that. :-) But the word means the same. Roland Geiger, St. Wendel, Germany
