I GOOFED. Before you all descend upon me I sent another note to Faye and told her Jacob is listed as the son of Felix or Cornelius, not Abraham as I incorrectly stated. Anyway, as I told Faye in a follow-up, James Martin, son of Felix is assigned the same birth year so they would be twins or born at either end of the year to fit into Felix's line...which is why I think it may be Cornelius. Now the one question that keeps bothering me about John W. Geiger is that his children's names do not follow a pattern if he is indeed the son of Cornelius.(I may be carrying these naming patterns too far, I know). His first son is named John Phillip. This leads to the question if he is the son of Philip Geiger? Faye mentioned an LDS listing that put Phillip's birth date at 1788 and that Felix is the father. A long time between the birth of one child to Felix and the next in the late 1790's. One possibility is that other children in between have not been found or died very young. Another possibility is that Felix may have been married to someone else who died after the birth of Phillip. Or maybe Phillip is incorrectly placed altogether. We know he witnessed a deed with Jacob Geiger and Steven Denmark and someone stated he died in Savannah. Who are the parents? This name Philip is very prominent in those northern Geigers...are we seeing some member of a different group with the same surname? Anne's question about the intermingling of the northern and southern groups seems well founded. I remember a post by Beverly some time back that indicated that John Geiger who was in Florida was not a southern Geiger but from the northern group. (I think that is what she said, she may have to correct me.) This in an area where southern members of the family predominated. If you look at the numbers of names from the PA area to the MD area and then the south, not only Geiger is repeated...a lot of surnames are common to all these areas. So maybe there are ties we have yet to reveal among all these groups. Anne mentioned it was food for thought...I think she might be very correct in her assessment. Susan
