At this moment, it is not clear if John A. Martin is our grandfather or gr-Uncle...I believe that he was our Grandfather, who was married to Elizabeth Donnom(Dunnam/Dunham) and that the "A." initial was entered to distinguish him from Rev. John Nicholas Martin, the noted Lutheran minister of that era... My reasoning is that, chauvinistic as it may seem, Wives' property rights were vested in their Husbands, and since Abraham's wife Mercy, and Felix's wife Mary were believed to be daughters of our Rev. John Martin, and James was their brother, mentioning of Abraham, Felix, and Stephen Reigs(Riggs) as co-owners of this lot would seem to bear out the fact that they were acting in their wives behalf... I think this Deed is "our guys..." >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [GEIGER] John A Martin, Bulloch Co, GA >Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 09:16:56 -0700 > >Land sold in Jasper Co, GA on 1/27/1810 (p 146 Jasper County, Georgia >Deed Books 1 & 2 1807-1810) by James Martain, Bryan Co; Abraham Geiger, >Bulloch Co; Felia (Felix) Geiger, Bulloch Co; Elijah Martain, Bulloch >Co; and Stephen Reigs, Bulloch Co to John Henderick, Wilkes Co total of >202.5 ac in Land Lot 58, 12th District was originally granted to John A. >Martin, Denmarks Dist, Bulloch Co, GA in 1807 Georgia Land Lottery (p >122, The Second or 1807 Land Lottery of Georgia, GA Gen Reprints, Silas >Emmett Lucas, Vidalia GA, 1968) Land lot 58, District 12, B Co.
