In FTM's "VA Vital Records, #1, 1600s-1800s", I tried various spellings of NEUSCH and this is all I found: Under VA Land Patents, there is one Capt. NEUCE briefly mentioned in June, 1622, in Elizabeth City. In Rockingham Co., records of the Peaked Mountain Church, in 1793, include Peter and Juliana NEU, with baby dau. Eva. In 1794, among those admitted to their first Lord's Supper was a Nicholas NEU. Many GEIGERS were also members of this church. Of a long list of GEIGERS in Index, all were of Rockingham Co. except two in Staunton Co. Of an endless list of NASHES, none were of either co. Rockingham Co. is just below Shenandoah Co., in the Shenandoah Valley! I'd check it out! Anne- Actually this is kind of interesting in that my immigrant ancestor Matthias GEIGER (b. Abt. 1703; d. 1759, Salem County, NJ) had a sister Teresia who married Frederic NEUSCH, in 1723, in Lembach, Alsace. I found NEUSCH spelled many ways in the Lembach records and the family seems fairly closely tied to the GEIGERS. A descendant of Frederic and Teresia NEUSCH, -- Matthias NEUSCH, emigrated to America and the family name later evolved to NASH. Coincidence?
