They are without power and can't drink the water but we are all grateful that we got through it. We really got hit hard with very little warning. Joan, I apologize for not sending this through you but I do not have you e-mail address. Mickey Sullivan --- Mickey- For the record, you can ALWAYS reach any RootsWeb list admin by writing to LISTNAME-admin@rootsweb.com replacing the word LISTNAME with the actual list name--in this case by writing to GEIGER-admin@rootsweb.com . That said, we are a fairly small (approx. 150) sort of "family" group on this list and it is certainly NOT off-topic for you to let us know that Anne is ok after the storm. I'm glad you did. I was hoping our Florida GEIGERs would be checking in to let us know they are ok. Joan

    3. I have been concerned about the Connell's also, so am glad that they are ok. A weakend but strong Charley came through Georgetown, SC where I live and did damage but none to my house. We lived through Hugo so can literally feel their pain. 3. To all who wrote, we really appreciate your concern. It was a rough storm, possibly with tornados, but we fared better than Mickey and Cousin Arlene. Their picture window blew in just mins. after M. had checked it, embedding shards in the furniture. Also lost every tree on their property and some fencing. A few days before, our 42 yr. old oak had dropped a huge limb, which tore down our wires and fried major appliances, etc. Then when Charley came howling, he decapitated the tree and threw it into the street, ripping out all our wires again! We were o.k., but all around us, streets were blocked by downed trees and many houses and cars were crushed. About 1:00 a.m., our son came banging at our door. He'd made his way across two towns, using a chain saw when necessary to get through. Said the quiet and almost total darkness were eerie! Our daughter came over later from the coast with supplies and a generator. And then Mickey drove the obstacle course to our house to try to lend these dummies a cell phone!! Haven't heard from other Floridia Geigers, but pray they are just busy dealing with cleanup and repair and will report in soon. If this next storm hits our state, it's going to be very interesting! Anne C.
