Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JOY.2ACEB/910.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Bingo! - after a fashion. The 1920 listing is under Geo GIRGER - line 12. Information is exactly as you described, except his age is transcribed as 24, and that is debatable. Unfortunately it provides nothing to help refine the search for a 1910 listing. His birthplace is US and that of his parents appears to have been Un (Unknown) later written over as US. I am attaching a copy as a GIF file. There is a Henry C. Geiger, 52, IL, in Souix Falls in 1920, with wife and daughter, but the daughter is 22 and born in SD so relevance is only speculative. I suggest that you send in a request for a copy of your father's birth certificate. Donald's may or may not be repetitive. LaRue's might also be interesting. Since George A.'s birthplace is proving difficult to pin down, the goal would be to find something that has his parents' names on it. Another way to go at this is thorough the marriage licenses. Since your grandmother was fairly young when she married, there is a good chance they were married in her home county (unless they made a run for it). You will need to go through the proper county Probate Court for this, so you need to know the county or make an educated guess. Your father's birth certificate may help confirm the location. I see that Hazel was born in Iowa, so it's possible that that marriage occurred there also. However her maiden name (and place of birth?), from LaRue's birth certificate may give you a chance of finding that marriage license as well. These are a couple of options that should give you primary source information, and it looks like that is what you'll need to make progress on this investigation.
