    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: BENNETT, CAMPBELL, GEIGER, TILLMAN, LLUMPKIN ?, MARTIN, ROBINSON, SHARPE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JOY.2ACEB/907.1 Message Board Post: That would be Abraham Elias GEIGER, b. 5 May 1820, Bryan Co., GA, son of David G. GEIGER (son of Abraham GEIGER and Mercy MARTIN). He marr. on 21 Sep 1848 Sarah Ann GEIGER, b. 1832 Alachua Co., FL, dau. of Samuel GEIGER (son of Abraham and Mercy) and Sarah TILLMAN. Their child on the census was "L. D., age 5, male", not Lot (initials were run together and hard to read). My notes on Abraham: "Abraham Elias was the son of David G. Geiger and Lucy Bennett. "In Florida's first statewide election in 1845, an A. E. Geiger voted in Benton (now Hernando) County, along with a James Robinson, where they were both listed in Choccochart's Hammock. An A. Geiger and an Abraham Geiger voted in Marion County. "On 21 September 1848, Abraham Elias Gieger and Sara Ann Gieger were married by J. N. Minor, Minister of the Gospel. [Alachua Co. Courthouse Marriage Bk.1, p115]. She was his first cousin, the daughter of Samuel Geiger of Alachua County. "On the 1850 Florida census, Alachua County, 14th Disctrict, p. 25, line 39, family 183 is: A. E. Geiger, 29, b. GA, farmer, $500; Sarah A., 18, b. FL; plus Preston Lumpkin [?], 14, b. SC; James Campbell, 50, b. GA. "On 1860 Florida, Levy County census, No. 4, T 14 R 13 S & E, Atseena Ote, p. 92/6, line 6, family 31: A. E. Geiger, 39 M, grocer, Baptist, 2,400-1,600, b. GA; S. A. Geiger, 24 F, b. FL; L. D., 5 M, b. FL. "In Levy County, Florida, in 1861, an A. E. Geiger was a Trustee of the school at community of No. Four. He likely was this Abraham Elias. "On Alachua County website, under Ancient Records, #108-36-7 is a scanned document dated ___ 1861, wherein Wm. E. Sharpe of Marion County makes Abraham E. Geiger of Levy County his lawful attorney, etc., as Trustee of the estate of Sarah Anne Geiger and her children. Her father Samuel had died on 11 September 1861. Don't know who Sharpe is. "However, another paper in Samuel's probate file, dated 18 April 1862, has "Abraham E. Geiger of Hernando County" assigning "Aaron M. Geiger of Marion County" power of attorney for the estate of Mary A. Turner and her children, Sarah A. Geiger and her children, and the heirs of Mercy Harville, dec'd. The three were daughters of Samuel Geiger. It is not clear as to when Sarah Ann actually died. "Abraham Elias does not show up on the 1870 census for Levy County. Only Aron [sic] M. Geiger is found, at Cedar Key. "In Levy County, 5 Jan 1880, an A. M. Geiger was on the Jury List and an Abraham Geiger was a resident." My notes on their son: "On the 1860 census for Levy County, Florida, this child is listed in his father's household as: L. D. [?] Geiger, 5M, born in Florida. "On 16 November 1875 in Marion County, Florida, a marriage license was issued to a Lorenzo D. Geiger and Mattie A. Geiger. They were married 17 November 1875 by Scott R. Bonham, M.G. Recorded (no date). "1900 Florida census, Orange County, Prect. 11, Apopka, lists a: Lorenzo D. Geiger, b. FL Oct, 1854, preacher, father b. GA, mother b. FL. Wife Martha A., b. May 1856. Six children, 1 boarder."
