Roland, thank you so much. I was hoping someone who knew the language would come forward and either verify or correct what I came up with. Marty has already scanned the picture at http://24.4.109.66/gene/gene.htm . It's very large, so I tried to print it out, but it kept crashing - so I just scrolled back and forth. As soon as you tell us what the document really says, it should be fairly easy to find the village (in Germany, I assume) and the families. A friend of mine started his researching by going to the Mormon Family History Center and looking at a list of German church records. He ordered the film for a couple of villages his ancestors had come from and that one film gave him all of them for several generations back! Maybe Marty will be that lucky!
