    3. Thomas and his wife Mary are, indeed, listed on Pg 82 of the ERB by Jones and Exley, but Descendants of Hans Ulrich do not know how he connects, if at all...He is not listed in the SC book by Percy Geiger... I have seen Philip as a witness on several Deeds...He is the son of Felix and Mary - b1788, d1849... >From: "Harriet Imrey" <himrey@ntelos.net> >Reply-To: GEIGER-L@rootsweb.com >To: GEIGER-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [GEIGER] SC grants to GA Geigers? >Date: Wed, 26 May 2004 10:51:53 -0400 > >There was one other reference to a "Thomas" Geiger in Saxegotha in 1772. >Both that one, and the 1748 reference, were mis-transcriptions of "Herman" >(of all things!)--identifiable because of multiple other references to the >same transaction in which the name clearly says Herman/Harmon Geiger. > >The place to find a Thomas Geiger (and his wife Mary) is in the Ebenezer >Church and on the Ogeechee in GA. 3. Probably because the Percy Geiger book includes only the descendants of Herman Geiger, and none of the many descendants of his uncle Abraham! But Abraham didn't have a grandson named Thomas either. Those are different Geigers, who showed up only in GA, not in SC. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gerald Gieger" <giegerg@hotmail.com> To: <GEIGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 28, 2004 7:11 PM Subject: Re: [GEIGER] SC grants to GA Geigers? Date: Wed, 26 May 2004 10:51:53 -0400 There was one other reference to a "Thomas" Geiger in Saxegotha in 1772. Both that one, and the 1748 reference, were mis-transcriptions of "Herman" (of all things!)--identifiable because of multiple other references to the same transaction in which the name clearly says Herman/Harmon Geiger. The place to find a Thomas Geiger (and his wife Mary) is in the Ebenezer Church and on the Ogeechee in GA. No references to him, or to a Philip Geiger, in SC.

    3. Gerry, what is your proof that this Philip is a son of Felix and Mary (my line)? I'd never seen that - or his b/d dates! We also have an unidentified Etheldred in Effingham Co., GA. I have wondered if he could be another son of Hs. Ulrich, who perhaps died before the 1815 deed was signed? "A Return of Capt. John Rawls' Co., Effingham County Militia, Feb. 15, 1794. Officers incl.: Sgt. Felix Geiger, Corp. Cornelius Geiger, Corp. John Geiger; Privates incl.: Etheldred Geiger, Abraham Geiger, George Martin." [extracted from Georgia Genealogical Magazine, April 1968, p. 1902] Here's the full list you submitted to the Effingham Co. site: Return of Capt John Rawls’ Company Effingham County (GA) Militia 15 Feb 1794 Officers: John Rawls, Capt.
