    3. Yes, the deed says "Ulrich Kegar (or Geiger), deceased". However, where the scribe mistakenly wrote "Mary" that single time, Gerry did add "[sic. Mercy]" ... note his brackets. Background: I had a copy of the original deed from the Bulloch Co. courthouse that I was struggling to scan for Gerry. As a personal favor, Mickey Sullivan professionally removed age spots, etc., and brought it back to almost "like new". Let me stress that she DID NOT make any changes in content. Gerry posted her actual restoration, as attachments at the bottom of his transcription. Open them and you'll see the original. Harriet Imrey has discovered that "Ulrick EGAR" and close friend Frederich RESTER (both of Saxegotha, SC) applied on 6 Mar 1764 for grants at Purrysburgh, SC, (across from Ebenezer, GA) and lived there a couple of years. On 1 July 1766, both applied for permission to remove "from SC to GA". This time, his application called him "Ulrich KEGAR". In GA, they had adjoining properties and the Resters stood as sponsors for Geiger babies Rachel and Cornelius. It seems apparent that Ulrich's children wanted the record to show that his name was really GEIGER, like theirs! It was a phonetic mistake!
