    2. oh, I forgot to mention that one of my distant relatives Peter Geiger born at Urweiler emigrated in the 1870s to Dansville, Livingston County, New York, where he run a butcher's shop. I visited his grave a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I have not succeeded in finding surviving decendents of him. 2. In einer eMail vom 07.01.05 21:24:50 (MEZ) Mitteleuropäische Zeit schreibt randbsale@hotmail.com: I know a lot of research has been done in early PA, but I am curious about the status of German research. Where, when, why, what and who knows anything about Geiger research in Baden? Is this research recent or a century old? For that matter, who has read the LDS films for Berwangen? And who knows about the locations and the status of other relevant archived documents in this area of Baden? You can't do much Ahnenforschung looking at the trees and soaking in the ambience. If you plan on using any archives, assuming they are open to the public, better confirm their specific days and hours of operation in advance. Email may not be acknowledged and correspondence may be backlogged, like a couple months. I'm sorry having to tell you that I don't know anything about the Geiger tribes beyond the Rhine River and I also don't know anything about someone who does research in that part of Germany about the Geigers. For sure, there are people who do it. And I got three photos from about 1930 showing two women - most probably from Loeffingen - and one of a house, obviously a store run by Franz Geiger, with him, his wife and two boys right in front of the front door. One of the photos of the women says "Meine Cousine Ida Geiger Löffingen 1927" = "My Cousin Ida Geiger - Loeffingen- 1927" while the store-photo says: "Herzlichen Glueckwunsch zum neuen Jahr 1923 - Familie Geiger" = "Happy New Year 1923 - the Geiger family". Years ago I had been in contact to a town where those Geigers from Geigertown, Berks County, PA, originate from but until today I wait for their first letter to write. I was asking for a book or something written about their emigration but no answer yet. I didn't care too much about it for I knew for sure they were not related to me. My line which I can follow back into 17th Century goes (back in time) from my hometown St. Wendel (myself) through Baltersweiler and Gruegelborn to Reitscheid and Oberkirchen, proceeds to Leitzweiler near Baumholder (latter part of 18th Century) and ends at Woersbach near Schallodenbach deep in the Palatinate (north of Kaiserslautern) with a Jacob Geyer born about 1675. You can see part of it (but only back to Leitzweiler) on my German-run website _www.geiger-roland.de_ (http://www.geiger-roland.de) Yours Roland Geiger Historical and Genalogical Research Alsfassener Strasse 17 66606 St. Wendel Germany phone ++49-6851-3166 email rolgeiger@aol.com www.geiger-roland.de => genealogy => local history => transcriptions (f.e. old German into modern) => translations (English-German, German-English) => guided tours through St. Wendel County

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JOY.2ACEB/923.1.1 Message Board Post: I am not a descendant of the early Pennsylvania Geigers. My Geiger line immigrated to Stark Co., Ohio, about 1825 from Eppingen and Richen (Baden, Germany). According to the American biography of John Jacob Geiger ( b. 1786, son of Paul Geiger), his youngest child, John Paul Geiger, was born in Eppingen in 1818. I know a lot of research has been done in early PA, but I am curious about the status of German research. While it is tempting to attribute the all Geiger ancestry in this area of Baden to Paul Geiger, survivor of the Thirty Years War, this may be an oversimplification. How much of it can be tied together? How much will remain as loose ends? And where are those dreaded source footnotes?

    2. T.G. Geiger
    3. Hello possessors of the Geiger surname. I have renewed my Geiger surname site and I gave it a new internet address as well. www.geigeronline.nl The pedigree is to reach in the Dutch, English, French and German language. There you will find four Geiger-lines from Germany: One to the Netherlands and a part of that line moved to South Afrika, one moved to the U.S.A and one to the U.K. All the Geigers have a great 2005! Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JOY.2ACEB/921.1 Message Board Post: Here are a few details that may be helpful. I’m not related, just a GEIGER Board reader. The 1900 Census gives his birth as AUG 1859. It indicates he was married eight years with one infant son. In the listings for 1910 & 1920, they are still in Sacramento with two additional daughters. I did not find a marriage for August Geiger and Alena DeBrunnner in the Illinois Marriage Index. http://www.sos.state.il.us/GenealogyMWeb/marrsrch.html This seems to indicate that a marriage in St. Louis would be the more likely option. I did find an 1880 Census listing on LDS for Alena’s family under DeBeunner in Madison County, IL. The alternate spelling may be a variant, but it could be a transcription error or a typo just as well.

August Geiger, my Husbands, grandfather, I just found, came to US on the Normandie, from La Harvre, France. He was Born in Germany Arrived NY 16 Jun 1884. He is listed as a butcher going to Missouri. We know his future wife, Aline or Alena DeBrunner' her father, Albert was a butcher who lived in Highlands Ill (she was b there in 1871) Since this is very close to St. Louis, wondering if they married in Highlands? They later came to Sacramento, CA (found in 1900 Census) he was a brewmaster at the Buffalo Brewing Company. He had a nephew/cousin Rudy who lived in LA area. Rudy also had sons. One of his sons returned to Germany sometime in last 30 years, married and probably still lives there. Story is they were from Black Forest Area and family were butchers. Anyone who has info on this Geiger family please contact me.
