Posted on: Geiger/Kiger/Kyger Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Geiger/266 Surname: ------------------------- Hi Joan - Thanks for responding. No, I don't know where George Wendel Geiger came from and I don't know how to find out. I also believe that he was my immigrant. I'm still very new at this, but I have searched the various web & library sources that I know about, and have found nothing on him. My info is mostly from family records from ancestors long dead. I can't seem to find any living relatives who have info or are interested. My tree is on Familytreemaker.com/users/g/e/i/tad-geiger/ if you'd like to check it out. There are 3 generations of George Wendels. The earliest (1750-1831)came from Germany. I'd love to know where. His wife was Anna Marie (Weimer ?). One of his 6 children was Elizabeth, who married Philip Kistler. I'll bet there is some connection (direct or indirect) here someplace. If you would like to E-mail me direct, it's [email protected] Thanks Tad

You might also consider placing your family in RootsWeb's WorldConnect program. I like it a lot better than the Family Tree Maker format and it would be an equally good way of making contact with others who may have information for you. Make a GEDCOM from your FTW file and upload it to WorldConnect: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/ It would be really great to see more GEIGERs in a search of the over 53,300,000 names on file with WorldConnect. Posted on: Geiger/Kiger/Kyger Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Geiger/264 Surname: ------------------------- Tad- Not that I'm aware of but you never know--sometimes these family alliances go way back. It could be a clue. Do you know where George Wendel Geiger came from in Germany? I believe he was an immigrant if I remember correctly. The Geiger/Kistler connection is from Berwangen, Germany, in the Northern Kraichgau. Joan
Posted on: Geiger/Kiger/Kyger Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Geiger/263 Surname: Eckles, Peterson, Kistler, Lose, Greenmaier, Weimer ------------------------- I don't see any connections, except that I also have a Geiger/Kistler marriage in my family - Elizabeth GEIGER & Philip KISTLER. Elizabeth would have been born about 1792. I'm searching for info about her parents - possibly George Wendel Geiger of Westmoreland or Lancaster County. Any connections???
Posted on: Geiger/Kiger/Kyger Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Geiger/261 Surname: GEIGER, LEIPOLD ------------------------- My ggreat grandfather was Herman Geiger born 1856 in Westhausen,Germany. His wife was Elisabeth (Leipold) Geiger born 1855 in Westhausen,Germany. Looking for other Geigers in Minnesota that may be related.
Anne: I show two Anson Geigers as great grandsons of Hans Ulrich. One is the Anson Butler mentioned earlier, son of Abraham Harroll, but he was b. 1854. The other was the son of John Martin Geiger and Emily Joiner. He had a sister named Mary. Is this your Anson? I don't have any dates for either of the children of John Martin and Emily. In answer to your question, no, I have not done any looking for the unusual names in this family, but it is a piece of work that someone needs to do. They don't appear to be very common names. Regards, Warren
Has anyone researched the apparent surnames given to some of these children - BUTLER, CRANCIE, HARROLL, JACKSON, PORTER? Also, my Anson GEIGER, b. 1846 in FL, was a great-grandson of Hs. Ulrich. I've always wondered where his name came from. Anybody know if it is an old family name? In the Denver Oste for 20 Dec 2000 was this obituary: Willard H. Gieger Goodwill employee, 78 Willard H. Gieger of Englewood, an employee of Goodwill Industries, died Dec. 13. He was 78. Services were Monday at Victory Baptist Church. Interment was in Littleton City Cemetery. He was born July 9, 1922 in Laurel, Miss. On June 21, 1942, he married Hestle Cooper Gieger in Heidelberg, Miss. His interests included football. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Willard, Parker, and Tommy, Lakewood; a brother, Victor, Terrell, Texas; three sisters, Essie Hollingsworth, and Tressie Dyess, both of Laurel, and Jessie Ruth Lundy, Mobile, Ala.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. I would guess that the comma between Willard and Parker is a mistake. Lakewood is on the west side of Denver. Hope this helps someone. Marge
Thanks for your help, but we seem to be on different branches. I guess I should have mentioned that he was from Pennsylvania. Thanks, Mary
Nancy: I show Abraham Harroll Geiger as a son of Abraham, and grandson of Hans Ulrich, but this could be wrong. I show him with a first wife named Tabitha LNU, and a second wife named Avey Jane Lee. I show no children with Tabitha, but seven children by Avey: John Cornelius, Anson Butler, Georgia Annie, Abraham Porter, Augustus Harroll, Thomas Jackson, and Uriah Crancie. My records do not go beyond Winfield Wickliff and wife, Sarah Ann Edwards. Can you perhaps provide me with the lineage since Winfield (wives, children, etc)? I'm happy to share anything I have, just let me know. Thanks, Warren
Dear Dorothy, I am trying to locate info on Abraham Harroll Geiger as he is in my data base with Avey Jane Lee but there are no connections for him. Who were his parents, grandparents, and great grandparents and dates and locations? I would appreciate so very much your answering this with the info you have. I am a descendant of Abraham>Hans Ulrich>Abraham II>David>Winfield Wickliff>Millard Homer> and my father Winfield Homer Geiger. Nancy Geiger Ford
Warren, What source do you have linking Abraham Harroll Geiger to Abraham? Most everyone I have talked to thinks this is right, but someone told me he could be the child of Cornelious, no proof of this. This is my gggrandfather and I would love to know his parents and grandparents. My ggrandfather was Thomas Jackson Geiger. It has been very hard to go any futher back than Abraham Harroll, Will be glad to share my information with you. Dot Miller [email protected]
Nancy, I wish I could answer all your questions. But I don't know who Abraham Harroll's parents or grandparents were. That is as far as I can go back, Now all the information I have seen on Abraham H says his dob was 1801 born Bullock Co, Ga. But this last year I found a 1860 Chatam Co Census with his name as Andrew H gegger age 45 wife Avey L children John C Georgia A, and Abraham P. These are the children of Abraham H.And his was was AVey Jane Lee. Also on the Hamilton Co, Fla Census he was 36 so that must make his dob 1815 or 1816 in lieu of 1801. He married 1852 to AVey J Lee in Hamilton Co, Fla. They had the following children: John Cornelious Geiger b 2/1/ 1853 Anson Butler Geiger b11/12/1854 Georgia Annie b 3/28/1856 Abraham Porter b 1/23/1858 Augustus Harroll b 9/12/1861 Thomas Jackson b 5/19/1863(this is my ggrandfather) Uriah Crancie b 12/28/1865 Someone on the list who is working on Cornelius seems to think he is the child of Cornelius but I don't have anything to prove this. I do know he moved back to Chatham Co, Ga and died about 1870. Two of his children are buried there but haven't found anything on his death. His wife Avey married Byrd Hightower and moved to VAldosta, Ga and is buried there with son John Cornelious, Georgia Ann Gieger Taylor, and Thomas Jackson. They are buried at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta. I will be glad to share the information I have on this family. Dot Miller
