    3. Posted on: Geiger/Kiger/Kyger Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Geiger/271 Surname: ------------------------- Hi Katrina - My Henry & George Geigers are probably not the ones you are looking for, but it's worth a try. My g.g.g.grandfather was George Wendel Geiger b.1750 in Germany. One of his sons was Henry, born in the 1780s or early 90s in Lancaster or Westmoreland Co., PA. For more detail go to my webpage at www.familytreemaker.com/users/g/e/i/Tad-Geiger/ . At the bottom, there is a link to George Wendel Geiger. When you get the tree, scroll over and make the earliest George Wendel the "Primary Individual" (right click on him). His decendents will appear, including Henry, Elizabeth, etc. I have no further details on him, but some of the others have details (right click on them). Note that Henry's brother George (my g.g.grandfather) married Mary Eckles b.1796, and she was called "Polly" Geiger. These names appear in your posting, but the dates don't seem to match. If you think there are any threads here, please contact me by direct e-mail. [email protected]/ . My father, now passed away, was called Alan Franciase Scotton - He was born on 27th September 1930 but I cannot remember where. He married Valerie Margaret Ewers. He has 3 brothers, Robert, Jack and the 3rd I am not sure of and 1 sister Betty. All of his married life he lived in Essex in a village called Great Wakering, which is in the south east of England. He has 4 sons and 2 daughters and most of us still live in the same village. I hope this may be a help to you and I am very much interested if I have any more family out there....Good luck with your findings.

    3. I would like information about the descendants of George Geiger, born February 27, 1824 in Ermatingen, Canton Thurgau, Switzerland. He emigrated to the U.S. about 1846 and lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He married Rebecca Schweke and they had three children: George Geiger born in 1855, Mary Christine born on August 25, 1857 and Anna Dorothea born in 1859. Rebecca Schweke Geiger died in 1860. George Geiger married Rebecca's younger sister Mary Schweke in 1861 and they had five children. Anna, Sarah, Verona, Dietrich, and Edward. I am descended from Mary Christine who married Julius Neils in Milwaukee on January 3, 1878. I believe the son George married a woman by the name of Lilly. Anna Dorothea married John Luerhing, Anna married Fred Knoll, Sarah married Carl Reimann, Dietrich married Helen Arndt and then Selma Heidermann, and Edward married a woman by the name of Ina. If you have information about the descendants of the George Geiger who came from Switzerland please inform me at [email protected] Jeanette Remole

Don't be concerned if you have not received mail from the list during that time, or if you sent mail to the list and didn't see it appear. Queued messages should be fed to the list over the next few days, but it you don't see one you sent in a reasonable period of time you might might want to send it again. If you notice any anomalies involving the list mail (for example: you unsubbed and you are still getting mail, etc.) let me know. Thanks! Joan list admin

    3. Yes, Warren. John Martin GEIGER and Emily JOYNER had 8 children. Mary [b. 1833] was 4th; she marr. Archibald H. JONES. Anson [b. 1846] was the youngest; he marr. Martha Jane ROBINSON. Others were Allen, Charles, Martha, Elizabeth, Noah, and Pliny. If you do a search in the GEIGER List Archives at http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl, I think you will come up with a fair amount of data on that line. 3. Ok all I don't know if this is the proper place to put this or not but here goes and yell at me if you must but this has to mean something to someone out there other than just me. >From the book "The Entrekin Family History" by Philip B. Entrekin And I QUOTE "2. James Marshall Entrekin, b. 1818 in Laurens, SC, d. Oct. 1911 in Pickens, SC married Mary Martin, b. 1820, Newberry, SC, d. Jun 1910, Pickens, SC. They were married in 1843 in Laurens, SC. After two years of severe drought, they moved to Pickens County where they lived in the Wolf Creek Community, later moving to their farm near Central, SC. In July 1862 James Marshall volunteered and served in the Confederate Army in Company F of the 3d SC Inf Regt. He stayed throughout the war without furlough or home leave. At Huguenot Springs, VA on May 21, 1864, he was treated at the hospital for a "VSL: (apparently stands for very severe leg wound-but some in the family say it was his thumb). In any event, it was not that serious and he returned to his company and did not miss any action. He was present at Appomatax during Lee's surrender which ended the war and gathered some limbs from an apple tree which had been used to stack the arms of the surrendering soldiers. These limbs and his tales of narrow escapes, were of great delight to his grandchildren. He was proud of his service and pasted his discharge papers in the back of the family bible which was last in the hands of his son Henry Orr Entrekin." Why did she post this here you ask? Because of the places involved along with the Surnames involved. Note also this in this same branch of this tree that I have by Philip Entrekin please!! Now #2 Gen. contains yet another child a Sister to this man above see below and again I Quote "2. Isabella Amanda Entrekin b. Nov. 8, 1921, d. Nov 13, 1895, m. George W. Martin b. Feb. 25, 1817 in Laurens, SC, d. Jul 31, 1890. They were married Aug. 3, 1845." one child of many that they had, "3. Arra Tular (Lou) Martin 1859-1945 married Robert Benjamin Singleton 1862-1924." Now these two go back to "Jesse Entrekin b. Abt. 1802 d. May 3, 1848 Jesse married Mary Ann Marshall and he never left SC. He was the youngest child of John Entrekin John L.Entrekin b. 1774 d. Feb. 1, 1843 he married Ruth Dalrymple in May 1798. John L. Entrekin was the first child of John Entrekin Sr. and his second wife, Sarah Millwee Hudgins, and he was born in Laurens, SC. ***(I have the Dalrymple line at least in part if any are interested in this) Sarah Millwee had been b. in Marsh Creek, PA in 1751 she moved south with the rest of the family and in 1769 first married John Hudgins in Craven County, SC had one son by him we have no idea what happened to this first husband but he must have died." Now here this becomes even more interesting in that many of the South GA surnames appear in this line. Such as Isaac Entrekin a son m. Elizabeth Cobb James Entrekin another son m. Mary A. Dean David Entrekin yet another son m. Mary Winn Eleanor Entrekin a daughter m. Smith Crandall the Methodist Minister. Nancy C. Entrekin another daughter was said to have married John D. Kelly but some say this is a misprint and the man was really John D. Kilgo however no mention of this man was found in the book known as "Kilgo Kith and Kin" Mercer Entrekin another son............known to be married and to have had kids however no names are known for any of them. Gideon Entrekin b. 1800 m. a Rebecca Elizabeth Entrekin- living in Laurens SC in 1816 she and Eleanor apparently inherited some of their fathers land and later sold it and carried a Promissory note. When Eleanor married Smith Crandall she sold her share of the note back to Elizabeth. nothing more known about Elizabeth. Sarah Entrekin b. abt. 1805 married Thomas Hunnicutt Sarah was the youngest one and there were suppose to be about 11 of them all total. Now this same John who married second Sarah Millwee had first married her older Sister: Elizabeth Millwee and had two sons by this marriage. Thomas Entrekin who m. Mary Cannon (my direct line) William Entrekin m. Rachel Bryant funny but is not Bryant another old time South GA surname as well? So if any one sees some of what I am seeing here please give me a yell and lets talk. Remember that a Mery Martin did in deed marry a Geiger in GA in this same area................remember? Could this Mery really be Mary and is she one of the many listed in this book. The name Geiger does appear in this very same book index p. 260 Geiger Elizabeth Ann, 63 on p. 63 I find: "6. William Edward Entrekin, b. 1942, m. Elizabeth Ann Geiger" but this is much to late you say. Well True, but could there not have been earlier connections as well with these people. Above I have shown that at times there were people of these same names seen connected and living close by to each other. Going back what is the line of this William you may ask. OK "5. Manuel Elmore Entrekin b. Jun 22, 1908, m. Anabelle Smith, b. 1914. 4. Norman David Entrekin 1888-1955, m. Mary Leona Simmons, b. 1891 3. Sheridan Entrekin, b. Apr 19, 1854, d. 1931 m. Mary Jane Johnson. 2. John Bryant Entrekin, b. 1801 in GA, d. abt 1865 in MS., m. Matilda Stanford, b. Jul 5, 1801 in GA, d. Apr 3, 1870 in Jackson MS, John Bryant and Matilda had 6 sons and 5 daughters. Four of his sons were killed in the CSA. This John is the son of William Entrekin and Rachel Bryant mentioned above earlier. William b. Feb. 28, 1762 d. Nov. 2, 1842. Any ideas? Gail

    1. Re: [GEIGER] The name Anson.
    2. Annie, I am following this family, it is my gggrandfather but I don't know where these names originated from. But when visting Hamilton Co, Fla , Thanksgiving there was a book of Cemeteries of Hamilton Co. And from Swift Creek Methodist Church Cemetery there is a lot of Lee's. There is a Ancil P Lee born 1872. I don't know who this is but I do know Abraham Harroll's wife was Avey Jane Lee from Hamilton Co, Fla. And her father was John Lee and mother Averilla JOhns. There are a lot of Lees and Johns in this cemetery. My thought is maybe some of these names came from the mother's family. This name just stood out, may not be connected at all. Just a thought. Sure would like to find something on the parents of Abraham H. Thanks DOT Miller
