*HI ALL: Having done your genealogical research for years, or months (in my case, abt 25 yrs), WHAT NOW????? We continue to be on lists, and search high and low for our last known ancestor's parents...... we collect and file and (hopefully) input the data into our genealogy programs .... now what????? For me, I need some MOTIVATION! I need to take what research I have accumulated over the years (that is not yet in my PAF program), and put it in there and put it on a webpage, and keep it organized and out there for others to see and connect to. What about you?? Have you done this, or do you keep your genealogy program (PAF, BK, etc) updated? I am very bad at this, and you can probably tell why .... I spend so much time doing Research, and spending time ONLINE, that I dont take the time to do my "homework" --- transferring all this wonderful information and family names over to my genealogy program! Anyone else have this problem??? I also have wanted for several yrs now, to not only collect the data and put into my PAF program, but also want to do a Family History book of some type for myself, my family, my descendants.....I'll bet most of us on these lists have plenty of info and pictures to do just that. What stops us?? No time? Not sure how? Waiting for just "one more name" to add to it????? Maybe we can help motivate each other, and ourselves at the same time, by sharing ideas as to WHAT WORKS, and if something has worked for you , HOW YOU DID IT! Also, DO NOT FORGET to *back up* your files and your emails! Maybe some of you are good about that, but I had a HD crash in March last year, and it was no fun. Lucily, I had backed up the HD a few mos. earlier, but did lose 3 months worth of info. I swore I'd never get that far behind in backing up, but have done so again now! So I may take the next couple of days to get backed up, and to organize my files/emails, and spend a couple of weeks (?) on getting all my info put into my PAF/genealogy program. Don't know about you, but I would feel such a sense of relief (and accomplishment) if I had all my research in my geneal.program, and uploaded onto a simple genealogy webpage. How about you?
