Payne) was born in 1837 and must have attended some local schools before getting his medical degree out of state in 1857, but he and his brothers and sisters (parents Joseph and Senia >Mitchell Payne) don't show up in the book/index of names for >Georgia Poor Schools and Academies. I've heard from a school board official that a fire in 1928 destroyed many of these records, but wondered if others doing genealogical searches had found any way to get Talmadge or "poor" school >information.
