    3. TO PAT: I would suggest you check out the following, for your WM MCGOWIN BELOW: 1. Look at CENSUS RECORDS for Wilkinson Co., GA (or INDEX to census), starting with 1850 and going BACKWARD.....you should find him on each one, and esp on the one in 1850, it will show the STATE (sometimes County) where HE was born , and i believe where his PARENTS were also born...so that gives you alot to go on! Also, you will see , perhaps on 1850 CENSUS, what his children's names are, and you can then follow those CHILDREN (esp. the boy, whose names don't change with marriage!), follow them FORWARD, and it will show where THEY were born, and THEIR PARENTS ( MEANING Wm. and his wife, etc.)...that's a good start.... 2. Go back even farther with GA CENSUS RECORDS, back to William's birth..., look at the 1800 CENSUS and see if Wilkinson Co. or nearby counties had a family with that last name, and what ages their children were (census' that far back won't show childrens' or spouses' NAMES, as the later ones do, but will give ages of children, and you can see if he might fit in age-wise.) 3. Also, check DEEDS, WILLS, etc for William or his parents/father. 4. The LDS CHURCH FHC (FAMILY HISTORY CNTR) has great Wilkinson Co. resources !) Get in touch if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help you! Best, TINA/CA List Mgr.
