*HI JAKE: Saw your email about John WEsley Lord. Since he was b orn in 1828, you will of course find him on subsequently Census records. To find out who HIS FATHER WAS, you'd want to look in the area where he, John Wesley Lord, was born, and then look in THAT AREA (county/town) on Census records, tax records, etc., for a Male Lord of the right age to be his FATHER. On the 1830-1840 census (2 census'), you could look at all the Lord's who have a son of the age your John Wesley would be at that time (on 1830 census, your John W. would be abt 2 yrs old), write all those possible Fathers' names down, if they have sons of the right age for your John W., and just keep track of those Lord men, as very possible/probable fathers. On 1840 Census, your John W. would be a 12 yr old child .... so do the same thing, write down all the Lord men, who have sons who wd be abt 12 yrs old.... THEN, look at the 1850 Census, and find those men, AND on the 1850 Census, they then started listing NAMES OF ALL PEOPLE IN THE HOUSEHOLD, and you will hopefully see your JOHN WESLEY LORD as, by 1850, a 22 yr old! But of course, he may not be in his father's home still, as he may be out on his own. BUT, if you follow the Census', starting with 1850, it will show THE PLACE OF BIRTH OF MOTHER OF EACH PERSON AND FATHER OF EACH PERSON.... Also, look at Wills, Deeds, Taxes, etc. This may be stuff you already have done, but just in case...... and maybe it will help someone else along the way too. Best, *TINA/CA* List Mgr.
