Hi, I'm researching the family of Zadock SIMMONS, b. c1756 (possibly in NC). Zadock and his son John F. SIMMONS were granted a passport from Anson Co., NC into Wilkinson Co., GA on 4 May 1812. Both appear there in the 1820 federal census. Zadock left a will in Wilkinson Co. in 1821 (john is the only child he mentioned). He appears in tax lists in 1824, but that's the last I find of him. His will is quite interesting, and I will post a partial transcription of it in a separate post. John F. was born between 1790 and 1794 in Halifax Co., NC; his mother was Sarah CLAYBOURN COTTON. He apparently had 10 children, although I am not sure of his wife or wives. According to _History of Wilkinson County, Georgia_, by Victor Davidson, he was active in county/local affairs in the 1820s. Is anyone else researching this family? Any clues on who John married?
